Adorning Her Daughters with Diamonds

One of the things we love most about working here at Adorn is meeting the wonderful people who cross our path. We had the pleasure recently of working with a mom whose heart is in the right place and could teach us all a thing or two.

We first met Cheryl when she rented our Brent necklace and Brent earrings for someone special – no, not her daughter, but her soon to be daughter-in-law! What a great lesson this Mom has for the rest of us that she wanted to do something special for her daughter-in-law on her wedding day and set the positive tone for their future relationship.

Our bias aside, we thought renting her daughter-in-law diamond jewelry for the wedding was a special, one-time gift she could provide her new family member at an important time in her daughter-in-law’s life. Most brides don’t have the budget to purchase real diamond jewelry, especially if she wants something with a little more bling. We’re betting Cheryl’s gift of an Adorn jewelery rental was well received.

Cheryl’s selection of our Brent earrings and Brent necklace were the perfect accessories for her daughter-in-law, who looked beautiful in a strapless, classic wedding gown. It’s All About the Dress

Congratulations to Randy Fenoli on his new book, “It’s All About the Dress: Savvy Secrets, Priceless Advice, and Inspiring Stories to Help you Find ‘The One’”! The star of TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress, Randy also stars in Say Yes to the Dress: Big Bridal Bliss and Randy’s Top Ten. As Fashion Director for Kleinfeld Bridal, Randy personally sees over 15,000 brides each year, so his experience with brides is extensive.

Photos used throughout the book are photos of real brides – in all ages and sizes. (Now, here’s an expert that gets women!) Other topics covered include dress and wedding budgets, wedding accessories, and bridal party attire. Whether it’s in his role as Fashion Director of Kleinfeld Bridal or author of his new book, Randy’s goal is to make women feel her most beautiful on her special day, and this book will help brides do that.

“It’s All About the Dress” is full of great fashion advice for brides, including suggestions on flattering cuts, fabrics and styles for different body types. As he states in this interview on The Today Show (http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/45149664/ns/today-books/t/randy-fenoli-explains-why-its-all-about-dress/ ), the book title was written in jest; Fenoli stresses to brides that although the dress is symbolic of your personal style, its purpose is to reflect how the dress makes you feel – beautiful – on your most important of days. We love Randy’s take on the traditional fashion advice women have received regarding body shape – throw out the pear shaped metaphors, women aren’t fruit! He discusses this further in the book, under Rule #7.

During The Today Show interview linked above, Randy presented a gown by Tara Keely (TK 2201) which retails for $1,925. The dress is an ivory, Alencon lace, A-line bridal gown with V-neckline, keyhole back and cap sleeves. It features a satin ribbon at the natural waistline with floral organza appliqué and chapel train.

Even The Weather Couldn’t Stop This Bride From Having Her Dream Wedding

Sometimes, there’s no getting around it; the weather is just not going to cooperate for your wedding day. For outdoor weddings, a backup plan is a must. But, that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice the mood you wanted to create for your wedding. See how Adorn client Jill, and her husband, tied the knot amid a romantic setting shaped by the ambience of candlelight.

Jill and her husband chose to have their wedding and reception at Lake Placid Golf Club. Although the rain did alter their plans somewhat, the one thing that wasn’t affected was the fact that Jill made a beautiful bride! Jill’s gorgeous dress was a strapless, wrapped gown with a jeweled bustline, and fur wrap to complete the look.

Jill chose Adorn’s Lockwood earrings and Chadwick bracelet to complement her embellished bodice for a perfectly stunning mix of bling and glamour. With her hair in an updo, Jill needed that extra something that our Lockwood earrings could provide in order to add the right amount of sparkle, focal point, and sophistication that was embodied in her choice of gown. In lieu of a necklace that would detract from her dress, Jill opted for our Chadwick bracelet, which makes a great accompaniment to our Lockwood earrings in terms of style, detail, and glamour.

The club’s darker than preferred paneling appeared to create some challenges at first, but the use of color and candlelight helped to overcome these obstacles to create gorgeous table settings and overall atmosphere. Popular Jewelry Styles and the Brides Who Wear Them

Styles of jewelry that are popular really vary according to many factors – the bride’s personality, sense of style, formalness of the wedding itself, dress style, and wedding vision. Generally, however, we’ve noticed that a bride falls into one of three categories – the traditional bride looking for classic elegance, the more confident bride going for a red carpet look, and the bride with great fashion sense for whom the accessories take on greater importance.

This year, we’re seeing the more traditional bride opt for gowns with embellished, embroidered belts or a more detailed, embroidered and embellished bodice. Because of these beautiful details, we recommend, during our personal style consultations, that brides not choose overpowering jewelry with their gowns. We frequently recommend classic diamond studs or diamond drop earrings – our Middleton earrings are a perfect example. (The diamond drop Middleton earrings, which we rent for $160, retail for $8,250.) Our Danielson earrings (diamond studs) may seem a safe choice, but the diamonds do offer a sparkle quality that no other stone can, and that sparkle can’t be had with costume jewelry. It’s that sparkle that allows for diamond studs to be seen from afar. Adorn’s Danielson Earrings rent for $150 and retail at over $5,900.

Brides that are more confident are going for that red carpet look and wanting to make a bigger impact with their jewelry, opting for a little more bling. A favorite pairing among brides in this group are our Lockwood earrings and Chadwick bracelet. Our Lockwood earrings are big – and gorgeous – chandelier earrings that rent for $200 ($13,700 retail) and shout “glamour”. The Chadwick bracelet is a diamond cuff bracelet that is a great complement to the Lockwood earrings and are similar in style and sophistication (retail $24,750, rents for $250). From our most fashion sensitive brides, we’re seeing a lot of creativity. These brides don’t shop for jewelry, or other accessories such as veils, as a last minute to-do, they have a specific vision for their fashion statement on their wedding day and use each element, such as their jewelry selection, to complete the look. We’ve seen brides that fall in this category, reserving their jewelry selection prior to finding that perfect gown. Vintage Elegance

We love hearing from our clients after the wedding and sharing their photos with you brides-to-be. We all need a little inspiration now and then, and it’s always fun to look at what other brides have chosen for their dress style and accessories, providing any wedding jewelry tips we can along the way. Jessica Russo, one of our Adorn Brides’ clients who married earlier this year, shows how a little bling in the right places can make all the difference.

Jessica wore this beautifully fitted wedding gown that consisted of two focal points – the stunning neckline which was adorned in crystals and a broach fitted to her left hip. LOL – All the Way to the Bank

Today’s brides are fortunate that so many great online resources exist to help a bride plan her wedding -and plan her wedding on a budget, which is what we’re all about. We came across another great article about renting options for brides, this one at http://www.bridefinds.com/2011/5-things-you-didnt-know-you-could-rent-for-your-wedding-cakes-diamonds-veils-more/. It appears that more brides are catching on – and laughing all the way to the bank.

It’s only been recently that brides have as many options as they do for renting wedding related items, rather than buying. In the past, the options for brides to rent included renting the reception hall, renting the tables and chairs, and renting the table linens. As the green movement evolved, peoples’ perceptions changed. It’s now commonplace to consider whether an item can be used by someone else.

Of course, the other big factor that’s contributed to the popularity of the rental industry has been the economy (recessions tend to do that). For brides, that means more options to save. Today’s brides can rent their wedding dress, rent their bridesmaid dresses, and rent jewelry – real, top quality, fine diamond jewelry that wasn’t even an option for brides to purchase in the past, or present, because of the high cost of diamond jewelry.

Our advice? Consider all your renting options, you’d be doing your wedding budget a favor. Just don’t rent the husband – and try not to meet him on a reality show.
