Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays from Adorn

Saturday, December 24th, 2011

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Adorn fans! 2011 has been a great year for us; we hope it has been for you too.

Our staff has been busy planning some exciting new changes for 2012 that we hope to bring you soon. This past month we’ve been busy working with brides who have planned some beautiful winter weddings and we hope to share their stories and photos in the near future.

We’ve also been busy helping clients seeking a little bling and glamour for their New Year’s Eve festivities. There’s still time to rent jewelry and reserve something for your New Year’s event. If you’re interested, please call one of our style consultants at 1-800-399-7401 to check on availability.

These final days in December will also bring our bridal jewelry contest to a close.  We’ve had a great response and enjoyed reading the descriptions of each couple’s relationship. Our last day for entries is December 31st so if you have a wedding or special occasion scheduled in 2012 for which you’d like to wear our diamond jewelry, at no cost, submit your entry and tell your friends and family to vote. The entry with the most number of votes will win a free jewelry set rental.

Lastly, as 2011 draws to a close, we’d like to take a moment to say thank you – to our loyal clients for turning to us at one of the most special times of your life, to our peers in the industry who share our passion, and to our friends and family who provide their continual support.

Merry Christmas to you and yours, and may 2012 be filled with many blessings – and a little sparkle.

Even The Weather Couldn’t Stop This Bride From Having Her Dream Wedding

Tuesday, October 11th, 2011

Sometimes, there’s no getting around it; the weather is just not going to cooperate for your wedding day. For outdoor weddings, a backup plan is a must. But, that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice the mood you wanted to create for your wedding.  See how Adorn client Jill, and her husband, tied the knot amid a romantic setting shaped by the ambience of candlelight.

Jill and her husband chose to have their wedding and reception at Lake Placid Golf Club. Although the rain did alter their plans somewhat, the one thing that wasn’t affected was the fact that Jill made a beautiful bride!  Jill’s gorgeous dress was a strapless, wrapped gown with a jeweled bustline, and fur wrap to complete the look.

Jill chose Adorn’s Lockwood earrings and Chadwick bracelet to complement her embellished bodice for a perfectly stunning mix of bling and glamour. With her hair in an updo, Jill needed that extra something that our Lockwood earrings could provide in order to add the right amount of sparkle, focal point, and sophistication that was embodied in her choice of gown. In lieu of a necklace that would detract from her dress, Jill opted for our Chadwick bracelet, which makes a great accompaniment to our Lockwood earrings in terms of style, detail, and glamour.

In regards to her experience renting her diamond jewelry from Adorn for her wedding day, Jill had this to say:

“The jewelry was absolutely stunning; even better in person! It looked brand new and was perfectly packaged. The service I received was impeccable. I received the package overnight and returning the items was so simple. I can’t wait to use Adorn again for a future event – love Adorn!” – Jill

Not only did Jill provide continuity throughout her dress and accessories with a little bling, she and her husband enjoyed a wedding cake that included rhinestone flowers and a jeweled ribbon draped around the cake! Now, that’s having your cake and eating it too!

Adorn would like to thank Jill and her photographer, Paul Reynolds of Burlington, Vermont, for sharing these gorgeous pictures with our Adorn clients. We really enjoyed the photos of the couple with umbrellas overhead to show that the weather was not going to prevent this couple from having their dream wedding!

To help them achieve their dream wedding, Jill and her husband chose florist and decorator, David Michael Schmidt, of Renaissance Floral and Design to set the mood. The club’s darker than preferred paneling appeared to create some challenges at first, but the use of color and candlelight helped to overcome these obstacles to create gorgeous table settings and overall atmosphere.  See for yourself by visiting the Renaissance Floral and Design site, and get some ideas for your own wedding.

Adorn Brides Cute Couples Contest

Thursday, September 8th, 2011

We love contests here at Adorn – and here’s why. We love to do everything we can to help make a bride’s dream wedding come true. It’s a day that little girls dream about, women think of excitedly, and mothers live for. We talk to brides every day who are stretched thin on budget and long on dreams, and we want to help them get it right. To help, we’re giving away a FREE diamond jewelry set rental, valued at up to $400!
If you’re a bride planning your wedding for 2012, this is the contest for you. Now through the end of the year, we’re holding our Cute Couples Contest. It’s a phrase people throw around all the time – “They make such a cute couple.”
What makes a cute couple? The reasons vary. It’s how a couple behaves together, how they influence each other, maybe inspire others – or each other (“He makes me a better person.”). It’s how a couple interacts with one another and the world around them. Maybe it’s as simple as that “something”, or those “somethings”, that drew you to one another in the first place.
To enter, submit a photo of you and your fiancé and tell us why you make a cute couple. Then… get out the vote! That’s right, tell your friends and family to vote and help you win. Ready to enter? Click here and good luck!

Blog-v2-jewelry-rental

Some brides still adhere to the old adage “something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue” for good luck. For brides bogged down with other, more important, wedding planning details, coming up with each of the “somethings” can prove somewhat elusive. We’re about to change that.

Starting today, Adorn Brides is kicking off our Something Borrowed Sweepstakes, and giving away a $25 gift card to twenty lucky winners to rent jewelry from Adorn for their wedding day. It’s the ultimate “something borrowed” you could find – fine diamond jewelry for you to “borrow” at an affordable price, with a gift card to boot!

We’re also partnering with Time Warner to celebrate the August 16th release of the hit movie “Something Borrowed” on DVD and Download to Own, and giving away a DVD to our winners as well. The movie, starring Kate Hudson and Ginnifer Goodwin, is the perfect bridesmaid get together movie – what bride can’t use a break from wedding planning stress to relax with her girls?

Winners will be chosen at random. Click here to enter the Something Borrowed Sweepstakes contest.

Be sure to visit us on Facebook and share with other brides what you’re using for your something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. There are a lot of great ideas out there and we love to hear them!

Fancy Mamas

Thursday, July 21st, 2011

Moms are getting into the game!  We’ve seen an uptick in the number of mothers of the bride who are turning to Adorn for their daughter’s big day.

Donning a conservative, yet elegant dress, these moms are adding a bit of sparkle and sophistication by incorporating classic diamond jewelry into their look. Coincidentally, with all the great colors out there for mother of the brides dresses these days, moms are still turning to the classics – black, navy. Perhaps they’re afraid of clashing with the wedding colors or bridesmaid dresses – or perhaps they’re just great moms being cautious about upstaging the bride. :)

Whatever their reason, we’re discovering these moms have great taste and style. A popular option for mothers of the bride looking to coordinate with their navy dress is our stunning Beckford necklace. Retailing for $45,000, this beautiful, and simply gorgeous, blue sapphire and diamond necklace adds just the right touch of classic glamour and rents for $990.

For mothers who have opted to go with the classic black dress, our Elizabeth pearl and diamond necklace has been a great choice. We hate to brag, but it’s quite simply the most beautiful pearl necklace we’ve seen! Obviously, it also coordinates well with our Hartley earrings, a large pearl drop and diamond rosettes at the post. We consider the Elizabeth necklace a steal for a $200 rental; the coordinating earrings go for $120.

Needless to say, it’s always fun for the staff here at Adorn to work with some great brides, and now we’re enjoying meeting their great moms as well! Recommend us to your mom, you’d be surprised how proud they are of you that they want to look special too! Call us for a free personal style consult and we’ll make you a special deal that will work for both you and mom.

A Bride’s Gift to Mom

Friday, May 6th, 2011

Moms play an important role in their children’s lives, no doubt about it, but when the mother is the mother of a bride, the relationship between mother and daughter is even more special.

Many brides planning their wedding quickly learn what a delicate landmine they must navigate as they try to balance making decisions for their wedding while keeping good ole’ Mom happy. Yes, there are horror stories of epic battles between brides and their mothers, some of which would make for an interesting documentary on the History channel. Sometimes, the bride is being unreasonable, other times, Mom is acting nuts (Moms Gone Wild video?).

But, truth be told, other than a few possible disagreements here and there, most brides and their mothers enjoy a special experience throughout the course of wedding planning and the wedding itself. Because of that, Adorn Brides would like to offer some suggestions for brides in ways to honor mom this Mother’s Day.

Plan a weekend getaway. Regardless of where you are in the planning process, Mom is bound to cherish any alone time with her daughter before the big day. With a whole weekend together, you’ll have time to get your Mom’s thoughts on your wedding plans and make her feel like she was involved in the decision making process, an important detail that will strengthen your relationship throughout your planning.

Shop with Mom . You aren’t the only one who has had dreams for your wedding day, Mom has dreamed of this day since you were born.  What better gift for Mother’s Day than to shop together for your wedding dress? You can always shop more later, if need be. Be sure to check out our bridal jewelry to complete your look.

Shop for Mom.   Your wedding day is a big day for Mom too. Spend your time together shopping for what Mom will need to wear for your wedding. Did we mention we rent jewelry for brides and their party?

Lunch with Mom.  With a reception to plan and a caterer that’s needed, take Mom out to lunch as you sample the goods.  Plan a month’s worth of “Lunches with Mom” as you do your research together. Two palates are better than one.

Photo album. Surprise your mom with a “Life with Mom” mini photo album. Include photos of you and your mom or family at different stages throughout your life to document your journey together in one place.  Follow it up with a mini wedding album for your Mom that includes several photos that would be of great importance to her – you dancing with your Dad, photos of her and your family on your wedding day, etc.

Regardless of what you decide to do for your Mom this Mother’s Day, be sure to include a card that says thanks, for nothing would have been possible without her. Besides, nothing makes Mom weep like a good card.

Our Hats Off to You, Duke & Duchess

Saturday, April 30th, 2011
The only thing better than a Royal wedding, is having a blog on which you can express opinions about the Royal wedding. It was an elegant and, yes, romantic affair, which seemed to go down without a hitch, but for many of us, the most indelible impression we come away with after watching it is, “What’s up with those hats?”

Hats, hats, hats, they were everywhere; in every size, in every shape, every color, stuck to the front of heads, affixed to the sides of heads. Some looked like bird nests, others like the decoration atop a Cake Boss cake. Wide brimmed, no brimmed, and reindeer, courtesy of Sarah Ferguson’s daughter, Princess Beatrice. Even the gents had their hats in the form of top hats. But enough about hats…

Nice touches during the wedding included the bride’s bouquet of Sweet William flowers, albeit a bouquet on the smaller side. And, it was hard to not be impressed with a wedding that included calvary. Calvary! Where do you find one of those for a girl’s wedding?!

Surprisingly moving moments included the two public kisses from the balcony (one more than is standard for Royal weddings), and the bride and groom driving themselves away in an old, sporty car that is likely worth a penny or two.  And, let’s not overlook how moving it was to witness the size and cheering from the crowds that had gathered.  What a great display of country pride that united so many people for a celebration.

But, the most surprising moment of all was seeing how similar Kate Middleton’s earrings are to our Abbott earrings and Clemons earrings! In fact, the similarities between Kate’s and our Abbott earrings were so astounding, that we’ve renamed our Abbott earrings the Middleton earrings in Kate’s honor so brides that want to rent jewelry that looks like Kate’s will know which pair is nearly identical.

For more information on how you can get similar looks as those you saw during the Royal Wedding, watch The Early Show on CBS next Monday, May 2ndAdorn Brides’ real diamond royal jewelry look-alikes will be modeled alongside royal wedding attire knock offs.

Royal Madness Is Upon Us

Tuesday, April 26th, 2011

With the royal wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton finally taking place, Royal Madness is upon us and with it comes talk of anything royal. But, there are two topics related to the royal wedding that are uppermost in royal watchers’ minds – what the bride will be wearing, and the absence of Princess Diana.

Princess Diana, herself, is remembered as a fashion icon whose style embodied grace and elegance. As her absence casts a huge shadow over the celebration, people are taking a look back at her wedding style and choices she made for her own televised wedding to Prince Charles.  The flowing wedding gown with the never ending train is most memorable, but the diamond earrings she wore on her wedding day will be worn this Friday by Princess Diana’s sister, Lady Sarah McCorquodale. What a wonderful way to invoke Diana’s memory and presence into the wedding of her son.

For brides wanting to get a similar look for your own wedding, check out our Clemons marquis diamond earrings, featured here.  Retail valued at over $7,000, we rent jewelry like these 18k white gold, 1.87 total weight diamond earrings for $240. Abbott Earrings Floating Diamond Drop Earrings. Retail value at over $7,000,  rental value $160.00.  Adorn you can be gorgeous and smart with your money!

Diana’s earrings were sent to Kansas City for a Union Station exhibit but then shipped back to England for Friday’s royal wedding.
